This pattern adorns the ceiling of the Tomb of Nebamun and Ipuky in Thebes. Buried around 1390–1349 B.C.,Nebamun and Ipuky lived during the reign of Amenhotep III–Akhenaten. Their tombs were highly decorated, and these ceiling decorations were documented by Nina de Garis Davies, a female illustrator and copyist who worked and published alongside her husband. They met and lived in Thebes full-time, where Nina became employed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art to paint the Theban tombs for their catalog. Accorindg to the Met, Nina's techniques "allowed for nearly exact brushstroke and color replication. In most cases, the copies reflected the actual scene, including any damage that may have been sustained over time or as the result of vandalism. In a some cases, the drawings were rendered to look like they would have when created several thousand years ago."
