Klimt's Cottage Garden mousepad

$19.00

Painted by Gustav Klimt in 1906, "Cottage Garden with Sunflowers" features sunflowers, dahlias, marigolds, asters, and phlox against a backdrop of lush greenery. According to The Belvedere, "The vibrant profusion evokes memories of a radiant summer day. It transports us to a dream world beyond space and time, where flowers and leaves never wither." Like many of his landscapes, Klimt painted with the aid of a viewfinder (a hole cut in a piece of cardboard) to find "the optimal composition."

Our "Museums" line features Open Access works from major museums around the world, bringing history into your home. These works of art hail from all corners of the globe, once gracing the interiors of ancient people's lives - whether as ceilings, floors, wall paintings, or portable objects. Some you may recognize, while others you may not. Each is reviewed by our university-trained curator and lovingly restored to reflect as authentic a view into the past as possible. Product types are limited to those that best reflect each work's original intent and design. All works are reviewed for Open Access permissions.

"Klimt's Cottage Garden" is from the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere under Open Access.
